Promising Start to Regionals thwarted by an injury for F55s

The West over 55s Ladies travelled to Manchester to play in the Regional Tournament on the 10th & 11th June. Having very little practise time together we gelled well and won our first game against the East 3-1. We then played the current champions the South the West girls put lots of pressure on the favourites and it was 1-1 at half time in the second half we lost Elaine Basterfield to a head injury and this lead to the South taking control and winning 3-1 .
With a few aches and pains we gathered on the Sunday when we played the hosts, the North. Again we dominated and came away 3-1 winners. Our last game of the afternoon was against the Midlands this was an exciting game with us taking the lead only for the Midlands to come back and make it 1-1; we then scored two in quick succession . The Midlands got a goal back but the West girls showed how resiliant they are and managed to score three more goals to make it a final score of 6-2 .
The final rankings for the tournament were - Winners South, Runners up West
