W45s finish creditable 3rd at Regional Tournament

West O45 ladies travelled to Cannock at the end of May for their annual tournament.

This year the squad was fielding some new players, recently moved up an age group, and regulars players from all over the West. The squad had been lucky to have manage a few training sessions with the 040 Ladies which proved a great success as it led to a great tournament.

First game was against the South on the Saturday and scores were level 1-1 with a cracking Tamsin Pascoe goal and a great team effort until the last few minutes when South stole a second goal to win 2-1.

The second game was against the East which resulted in 1-1 draw (T Pascoe goal). The team grew in confidence as the day progressed with excellent warm up sessions provided by Clare Hayes.

Sunday was another day and everyone raring to go from the off. starting with a cracking game against the Midlands with everyone doing their part and playing out of their socks, some beautiful one-two passing around the pitch saw a great win over the Midlands 2-0 with goals from both Tamsin and Sanchia. The weather was kind with all to play for in last game against the North with even the South cheering on the West (if we won they would be first). Everyone threw themselves into the game..literally...as Wendy Butcher took a hard collision with the goal post whilst defending. Pleased to say she was fine!

West lost 1-0, but finished a fantastic third overall.

Once again, a fantastic performance by everyone and great team support for, and from, the O40 squad who where at the same venue for their Regional Tournament.
